Throughout the Heated Rivalry craze, events have been popping up by the dozen to celebrate the smash-hit gay hockey romance series: raves, lookalike contests, watch parties, you name it. But at Queertopia Presents: Rookie Season, the first of hopefully many dance parties from the new local events collective, there’s a refreshing focus not only on the show’s queer fans, but also on putting money back into the local queer community. Featuring music from DJ Afrosheen and an appearance from special guest Ellisa Sun — a local artist whose song “Unravel” was featured in the show — Rookie Season’s proceeds will benefit Nashville Launch Pad (which supports unhoused LGBTQ youth) and You Can Play (which promotes community and access to sports for gay and trans athletes). Can’t get enough Heated Rivalry? Queertopia is also hosting a trivia pregame at Chapstick from 5 to 6 p.m. the same night, while Preds Pride Night will feature cottage-themed merch on March 26, followed shortly after by Hockey Romance Night on March 28.
8 p.m. at The Basement East
