Critic's Pick: Pickin’ at the Pantry

The Pancake Pantry is used to selling out at breakfast. People love the restaurant, with its long history and 23 varieties of scratch-made pancakes. This summer, the Pantry sold out its inaugural Pickin’ at the Pantry event too. With help from partner Buddy’s Place, the Hillsboro Village staple is bringing it back for round two. On Thursday, songwriters Alex Hall, Jamie Floyd and Brett Sheroky will perform in a traditional songwriters’ round, telling the stories behind their songs. Hall recently released his EP Turn This Love Around, featuring collaborations with Vince Gill, Tenille Townes and Mae Estes. Floyd has been nominated for a Grammy three times. Sheroky is known for clever wordplay in his lyrics, which always makes for a fun addition to a writers’ round. Since 2011, Buddy’s Place has produced songwriters’ rounds in venues across the city. At this one, the restaurant is being turned into a songwriters’ room, so you can order a limited menu of the restaurant’s greatest hits as you listen to the writers’ greatest hits. Tickets are available online for $30 each, plus a $15 food minimum per person.
