Bluesy country torch singer Mandy Barnett returns to 3rd and Lindsley Saturday night for a performance billed as Mandy Barnett Sings Elvis: The Music of the King. “You’re going to get a lot of Elvis on this one because it’s the day before the anniversary of his death,” Barnett tells the Scene. One of Nashville’s finest vocalists for three-plus decades, Barnett first appeared on the national radar as the 18-year-old star of the musical Always … Patsy Cline, which debuted at the Ryman Auditorium in 1994. Since then, she has released a series of critically acclaimed albums; had her music featured in numerous film and television productions; and appeared on a variety of national television programs, including The Tonight Show, The Late Show and Sessions at West 54th. The Chicago Tribune called her “a torch singer in the grandest sense of the word,” while Billboard lauded her “big, silky, expressive voice.” She currently hosts the SiriusXM program Sundays With Mandy on the Willie’s Roadhouse channel. Barnett will be accompanied Saturday by her current band — Andy Reiss (electric guitar), Matt Severs (electric guitar), Jason Bales (acoustic guitar), Catherine Marx (piano), Chris Autry (bass) and Josh Hunt (drums) — plus backing vocalists Gary Pigg, Brent Rader and Kim Fleming. Country singer-songwriter Erin Viancourt opens the show.
