Cool Christmas With Birdcloud 2 Feat. Vockah Redu, Jon Burr, Erin Rae, Tristen, Andy Animal & more

If you live in Music City and still somehow haven’t been confronted with Birdcloud … well, you need to get out more. The foul-mouthed, caterwauling local satirists put on the kind of show that forces you to have an opinion about ’em, for good or ill, as they scream and spit and crotch-harmonica their way through songs with titles like “Saving Myself for Jesus,” “Vodkasodaburg” and “Black Guys.” (That last one caused some trouble for the band in Knoxville.) The thing is, if you can get past the pearl-clutching phase that most folks experience when they first hear Birdcloud’s explicit and incendiary-by-design lyrics, you’ll probably come to the conclusion that members Jasmin Kaset and Makenzie Green are mocking casual racism, skewering contemporary country music and, on occasion, just going for a good old-fashioned dick joke. This weekend, Birdcloud returns to The Basement East for their second annual Cool Christmas show, where they’ll be backed by a full band — a rare treat. Also on the bill will be wild-as-hell NOLA bounce MC Vockah Redu, and Birdcloud promises “a world-class variety show with celebrity DJs, dancing, real Santa, celebrity MCs, photo booth and guest appearances by Jon Burr, Erin Rae, Tristen, Andy Animal and many other guests and surprises.” D.
