Chocolate Truffle Making Class

As plentiful and familiar as it is, chocolate can actually be a very fussy ingredient to work with. If you’ve ever tried to melt down a pricey bar of dark chocolate to make your own candy or dipped fruit, you probably already know this: It takes just one second for the perfect pool of melted decadence to burn or seize up. But if you have the right tools and some patience, creating your own gorgeous handmade truffles can be deliciously rewarding, and Germantown’s Tempered Cafe and Chocolate wants everyone to know the joy that comes with unmolding the perfect edible gem. At their truffle-making class, the $55 ticket will give you access to all their truffle tricks, from forming the shell and filling it to achieving “the perfect glossy shine on the outside.” The ticket price also includes a glass of wine, and you’ll leave with your own tray of chocolates, which you can pass along as a sweet Valentine’s Day gift — or hoard for yourself. There are four classes: Jan. 17, 18, 24 and 25. See the Eventbrite page for tickets. MEGAN SELING
