March 21 is World Puppetry Day, but you don’t need to wait for a special occasion to check out Wishing Chair Productions’ charming new online variety show The Whimsical World of Wishing Chair. Featuring familiar Wishing Chair friends — including the Professor, Library Pete, Mary Mary and Mr. B., this weekly, 30-minute show offers fun songs, stories and, of course, plenty of puppets (Tommy Dog, Cedric the Dragon and JJ the Lamb among them). There are recurring segments — such as Mary Mary’s book recommendations and visits to the Enchanted Alphabet Tree — plus interactive games, special guests and more. It’s a welcome treat for little ones who’ve been missing live, in-person story times at the Nashville Public Library. The virtual series kicked off earlier this month, and audiences can look forward to a new episode at 10:30 a.m. every Tuesday via Facebook. After that, episodes will be available on NPL’s YouTube channel.
