Contrary to popular opinion, East Nashville is not exclusively a bastion of liberal commie bohemians. As the East Nashville listserv demonstrates, there are just as many folks from the wrong, er, other end of the spectrum (or maybe they're just more vocal). Recent topics vary from community-wide peace circles to theories that violent crime has increased due to "the proliferation of Section 8 housing scum!" A 153-comment thread on Sarah Palin included these gems: "What makes people vote Democrat: 1. Mental Retardation. 2. Laziness.... 14. You despise America. 15. Your parents are hippies." To which someone responded, "...since you brought up 'mental retardation,' I'm wondering how many times YOU voted for the mental retard currently inhabiting in the White House?"
