Ashley Campbell

Ashley Campbell, an emerging artist standing firmly at the increasingly traveled intersection of pop and bluegrass, will perform a free hourlong set Thursday at The Station Inn to celebrate the release of her debut album The Lonely One (out Friday via her own Whistle Stop Records). Campbell earned her stripes as a banjo player touring with her late father, legendary Country Music Hall of Famer Glen Campbell. Before embarking on a career in music, she studied theater at Pepperdine and was taught comedy by eventual movie star and five-time SNL host Melissa McCarthy at The Groundlings in L.A. But Campbell’s launch as a solo artist is no joke. The Nashville resident wrote each of the 13 songs on The Lonely One, bringing legit neo-bluegrass chops to the post-breakup angst and independence of Taylor Swift, and the pop energy of Kelsea Ballerini. Campbell will also appear on the Grand Ole Opry Friday. SKIP ANDERSON
