Insight? Outta Site! — Paddy Johnson
When: Noon Tuesday, March 31
Where: Downtown Nashville Library Auditorium
Paddy Johnson started her blog Art Fag City in 2004, when the idea of art criticism that is both serious and accessible was even more unusual than it is today. A lot has changed since then — the blog is now simply Art F City, and features a lengthy list of other contributors — but Johnson’s reputation as one of the most feared people in the contemporary art world has remained. She’s sarcastic, confrontational and unafraid.
In other words, she’s an awesome read, and if you’re not already following her writing you’ve missed out on some of the best zingers the art world has ever stomached. She’s also written for New York Magazine, The Economist and The Guardian, has a regular column in New York’s L Magazine, and won the Village Voice’s award for Best Art Blog for the past two years running.
On the heels of a talk by similarly influential editor Hrag Vartanian of art site Hyperallergic, today’s lecture is presented by Seed Space as part of its free Insight? Outta Site! series, and is all but essential for anyone interested in contemporary art and art criticism.
