Friends of Tim Wilson
Where: TPAC'S Jackson Hall
When: 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 14
Tim Wilson was raised on “acid country,” and his ringer impressions, musical talent and nuanced understanding of the South made him one of country music’s most popular ambassadors to comedy. His life and career spanned a nationwide appeal that included memorable appearances on The Bob & Tom Show and the creation of such favorites as “Garth Brooks Ruined My Life.”
After his death at age 52 from a massive heart attack in February, those touched by Wilson have come together to commemorate his unique voice with this benefit, Friends of Tim: A Comedic Celebration of the Life of Tim Wilson. Billed as part of the Wild West Comedy Festival, the benefit concert features such comedy heavy-hitters as Ron White, Kathleen Madigan, Billy Gardell, Killer Beaz, James Gregory and Ralphie May. All proceeds from the show go to the memorial fund created in Wilson’s name to honor his legacy and guarantee a college education for his two children. May he be drunk-driving a jetpack in Heaven.
