So, what'd you guys do with your night off after
HAIM cancelled their Cannery Ballroom gigdue to tornadic weather in Oklahoma? I fell asleep on my couch watching kung-fu movies on Netflix, but the smart money was on
catching Los Angeles-based comedian Dave Ross at Spiffy Squirrel, the weekly comedy showcase hosted by scene veteran Chad Riden at The East Room.
Ross, not to be confused with the newscaster and possible Aaron Sorkin invention of the same name, co-founded the weekly Holy Fuck comedy show in 2009, is a Moth GrandSlam winning storyteller, and you completely blew it by not catching him at The East Room on Sunday.
Luckily for you, there's a second chance!
Instead of packing his bags and heading straight for Chattanooga, Ross is hanging around in Nashville for one more night to perform a live version of his weekly Nerdist podcast Terrified, on stage at The High Watt. Terrified features interviews with comedians, musicians and other artists the fears and insecurities that fuel their art. In the past, Ross has interviewed people like Bay Area psychedelia deity Ty Segall, former MTV VJ Dave Holmes and Corporate Juggernaut alumnus Sean Patton.
Tonight, Ross will be joined by comedians John-Michael Bond and Julia Luce, along with Ette and Fond Object co-owner Coco Hames. Tickets are $6.66 or, if you're not terrified of coupon codes, free with the code "SATAN." Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the podcast, which will be recorded and released online sometime in the future, will start taping at 8 p.m.
