Anaconda Vintage Grand Opening

Essential local record store Grimey’s New & Preloved Music hasn’t yet settled into its new East Side shop — they’ll make the move to the Trinity Lane location later this year — but the area is already shaping up to be quite a community of cool. Mickey’s Tavern, Nicoletto’s Italian Kitchen and the new (and great) bar Walden are just a stone’s throw away. And opening this weekend in the little white building just behind Grimey’s future home is Anaconda Vintage, a community-curated shop bursting at the seams with clothes, accessories and home goods that have been hand-selected by local folks including Tristen, Alise Grysen, Heather Scudder, Amanda Matsui and Emma Swift. They do the hard work of seeking out primo vintage wares so you can peruse the pretty things without stressing about how much cigarette-smoke-soaked velour you have to touch! To make it a party, some of Music City’s coolest will be DJing the opening, including Thelma and the Sleaze, Eli Tidwell (formerly of local punk outfit JAWWS), Linwood Regensburg (of Those Darlins), Anna Lundy (of Grimey’s and WXNA’s Untune the Sky) and more. The shop is offering 20 percent off everything, along with free beer and Chicago-style hot dogs! Keep an eye on the group’s Facebook page for upcoming events too — on July 7, for instance, comedian and Scene columnist Chris Crofton will perform with local comic Mary Jay Berger. Cool! Welcome to the neighborhood, Anaconda. 3 p.m. at Anaconda Vintage, 1062 E. Trinity Lane, Suite 101 MEGAN SELING
