The Seigenthaler Series presents a discussion with the winner of the 2017 Pulitzer Prize in Investigative Reporting for work that exposed the role of major drug distributors in flooding top-overdose counties with millions of opioids. Eric Eyre, reporter for the Charleston (W.V.) Gazette Mail, and the newspaper's attorney Patrick McGinley, will discuss how they successfully fought in court to unseal shipping documents that for the first time revealed the extent of distribution of massive quantities of pain pills in that state, despite warning signs that people might be illegally obtaining and misusing the drugs. A Q&A with the audience will follow the discussion.
