>Locally beloved comedian and Scene columnist Chris Crofton once had a great line commenting on V.I.P. sections at Nashville rock clubs: "Velvet ropes at The 5 Spot?! That's like velvet ropes at The 5 Spot."
And so we wait with baited breath to get Crofton's take on what happened at The 5 Spot Wednesday: Lady Gaga playing four news tunes — "Sinner's Prayer," "A-Yo," "Million Reasons" and "Perfect Illusion" — at a beer-company-sponsored publicity-stunt gig promoting her forthcoming LP Joanne.
Music City's most dedicated Little Monsters camped out all day to try and see this shit — the first stop on Gaga's Dive Bar Tour — or film it on their smartphones. And a few of them actually got in. But it only took a matter of minutes for full, pro-shot clips of the live-streamed performance to turn up on YouTube. Check 'em out above and below — at least until Universal hits the uploaders with DMCAs!
(Fact check: The 5 Spot is not actually a dive bar.)
