In 1975, Talking Heads were just forming in New York, Heart was releasing the landmark record Dreamboat Annie, and ABBA was changing pop music with their hit-riddled self-titled album. Though the three outfits don’t have too much in common outside of achieving popularity around the same time and having cool hair, they’ll all be represented by cover bands at a tribute night at the The East Room this week. The lineup: The ABBAdabbas, featuring members of local outfits Nightblonde and Taco Mouth; Gambler and the Magic Mans, repping Heart and featuring Protomen member The Gambler; and These Slippery People, who will take on the work of David Byrne & Co.
