"Rock's mystery man revealed: Behind the life of Chris Gaines."

MTV Unplugged archival footage

"One of rock 'n' roll's most enigmatic figures." - Truer words have never been spoken.

"If you wanna play to 5,000 wet, screaming teenaged girls, then make a video and smile."

How much money and manpower went into making this TK?

Creed - "A real rock band"

Don Was

Billy Joel

Like Brooks, Chris Gaines refers to himself in the third person.

1999

Sex addiction, disfiguring car crashes ("Despite the brisk morning air, Chris fell asleep going into a corner at 90 miles per hour. He says he woke up as his car soared off a cliff.")

"Living my life without music? This is embarrassing to say, but I was worried about living my life without sex."

"Chris is a 32-flavor kind of guy."

Sex addiction.

Car crash all just away of explaining the multiple plastic surgeries that altered his appearance. I mean, why not go deep with it and make him Michael Jackson-style crazy as fuck?

Part 2"

Part 3

'Fornucopia' - "The album reflected the head-spinning highs and lows of the past few years of Chris' life," the ones where his career-building manager screwed him out of all his earnings (and also just regular screwed him) and his daddy died.

Lost his house in the Malibu fire.

He finds himself by playing juke joints in the Mississippi Delta - "And what I brought back was something that the critics said I never had, something I never thought I had — I brought back soul." Mega LOL at the cover to Gaines' 1996 R&B-infused critical triumph, Triangle. (5:51) - "The problems were with the record label and the industry."

OMG at his political song (8:55)

ALL THE CLICHES, on purpose. But this is not parody, this is dead serious. WHY? What is this supposed to be saying?

Basically Gaines is dour, surly and charisma bereft, basically all of the things actual Garth Brooks is not.

"At the age of 32, Chris doesn't seem worried about turning into a rock 'n' roll dinosaur." (Actual Brooks was 37 at the time.) - "I'll die before I get old, it's just written in the stars."
