Best Late-Night TV LOL

If you follow Music Row news, then you know Sturgill Simpson’s got a lot to say about the state of the country music industry. And if you watch The Late Show With Stephen Colbert then you know he’s got a lot to say about … Waffle House? Indeed, South Carolina favorite son Colbert still had one unaccomplished dream in 2016: to get a song on the Waffle House jukebox, which, FYI, is loaded fully with tunes about Waffle House. Colbert tapped “alt-country superstar” Simpson to co-write and cut a tune better than breakfast 24/7 — “No Shirt, No Shoes, No Knuckleheads” — and lo and behold, it was added to every WaHo jukebox across the nation. Things really got good when Simpson joined Colbert on a pilgrimage to his hometown WaHo in Charleston, S.C., to cut a segment in which they yukked it up with locals, waited on a table of (presumably) stoned roustabouts and debuted the song.
