#Lamarwatch: Tea Party Group Endorses Joe Carr ... For Wrong Race

Posted By on Mon, Jul 14, 2014 at 10:06 AM

Joe Carr has racked up the endorsement of the Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund, a conservative super PAC that has spent heavily in a few races this cycle, including more than $800,000 in Chris McDaniel's losing effort against Thad Cochran.

The Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund (TPPCF) has endorsed State Rep. Joe Carr in the Tennessee Republican Senate primary. “Joe Carr embodies the values of personal freedom, economic freedom and a debt-free future,” TPPCF Chairman Jenny Beth Martin said. “In contrast to his incumbent opponent, Joe is willing to take the fight to both liberal Democrats and Establishment Republicans in defense of liberty.”

The only problem? They endorsed Carr for House of Representatives.

Pith isn't sure if they would rather Carr run for House or if they can't keep up with what he's running for, but there you have it — the Tea Party Patriots are firmly behind Joe Carr, whatever race he may be in.

The endorsement comes just days before early voting starts, so it remains to be seen whether a group still licking its wounds from an embarrassing loss in Mississippi will be willing to throw money after an uphill race against another well-funded opponent.
