Blackburn Explains Why She Wants to Protect Only White Straight Women from Violence

Bobbing and weaving, Rep. Marsha Blackburn finally admitted yesterday she voted against the Violence Against Women Act because it included protections for gay women and Native American women—or as she put it "other different groups." All of Tennessee's Republican House members voted against the bill too, by the way. Think Progress:

Domestic violence is domestic violence, period. And there is no way to justify Blackburn’s suggestion that some victims of this violence are more deserving than others.
