Capitalizing on this Channel 5 report, Democrats accused K12 Inc. of fixing grades this afternoon and vowed "to end virtual school fraud." East Nashville Rep Mike Stewart is going before the state House Education Subcommittee within the hour to push his bill to to de-authorize the for-profit cyber school operator. Says Stewart:

“Not only has K12, Inc. failed at educating our students, they are now apparently trying to falsify results to cover up their track record of failure. There is more than enough evidence, not only in Tennessee, but across the nation, telling us that K12, Inc. is an entirely misguided and inexcusable use of our limited education tax dollars.”

Rep. Gloria Johnson, D-Knoxville, says: “Their internal memo clearly shows that K12, Inc.’s bottom line is profit, while our priority is student achievement.”

Also on the subcommittee's agenda is Gov. Bill Haslam's bill to cap virtual school enrollment in Tennessee. But Johnson says, “We shouldn’t cap it, we should scrap it.”
