The NAHCC has an uncanny eye for talent: In 2006, Pastor Tommy Vallejos of HOPE (Hispanic Organization for Progress and Education) received the Outstanding Advocacy & Community Service Award — and now he’s Clarksville’s first Hispanic county commissioner. In 2007, Fabian Bedne received the Advocate of the Year Award — and last year, became Nashville’s first Hispanic Metro Council member.
In 2008, Loraine Segovia Paz won the Outstanding Leadership & Service Award, and last year she was appointed to the Metro Human Relations Commission. Mario Ramos won the Entrepreneur Achievement Award in 2008, and then the next year was the recipient of an American Immigration Lawyers Association award. I could go on, but I think you get the picture.
