Sports Will Vols Wear 'Symbol of Oppression' in Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game?

Zeigler says at least one player on the gridiron that night is likely to be gay and just as likely in the closet, and by putting on that jersey, that young man “will become a walking billboard for a symbol of his own oppression.”
It is time for Chick-fil-A to stop forcing athletes to wear their logo. And if they won't do that, it's time for the ACC and SEC to end their relationship with the bowl game.[Chick-fil-A COO Dan] Cathy said his company stands for "the biblical definition of the family unit," which would leave same-sex relationships on the trash heap of history. "I think we are inviting God's judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at him and say, 'We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage,'" Cathy said.
For the gay football player or coach in Atlanta that weekend, the words of Cathy, diminishing him to second-class citizenship, will be ringing in his ear.
We’re going to go out on a limb here and say that nothing comes of Zeigler’s call to action. If University of Tennessee officials were to make an issue of this, they might as well light a match to their state funding at the same time, given our Republican-run legislature’s penchant for gay-bashing.
Besides, it looks like no one much cares about this Chick-fil-A controversy at the university. Apparently, they love them some Chick-fil-A sandwiches in Knox Patch. At last count, only 228 people had signed a petition asking the university to stop using Chick-fil-A as a vendor on campus. Even the existence of the petition was enough to cause our buddy David Fowler to fire off a threatening letter to the university.
