“Kristi Stanley is the kind of strong conservative woman who will make a positive impact on the economic lives of Tennessee women,” said Lt. Governor Ramsey. “Her experience as an advocate on behalf of those who create jobs gives Kristi a keen insight into how women can become empowered economically. I look forward to her contributions on the council and I applaud her willingness to serve Tennessee.”
I believe "advocate on behalf of those who create jobs" is Republican for "lobbyist we like" but whatever.
The thing is that, back in the day, it was conventional wisdom that Stanley was as good a political thinker as her then-husband, Paul Stanley, and folks often wondered why she was content to stay out of the spotlight while he was embarking on his political career. And then, certainly, when he was caught up in his philandering extortion scandal that embarrassed the whole state, one couldn't help but wonder if the Republicans had put their faith in the wrong Stanley.
So it's nice to see that she'll get to put her skills to use for the good of the State, and that old hard feelings about her ex-husband's behavior are not costing her opportunities. That is as it should be.
