Political Tweet of the Week: Chattanooga Edition

It comes from state Sen. Andy Berke, who is running for mayor of Chattanooga:

Berke, who announced his candidacy back in May, planted a big frontrunner stake in the ground last month when he reported having $383,000 in campaign cash on hand already — a number that Chattanooga Times Free Press city government reporter Cliff Hightower labeled "behemoth."

Berke is still waiting to see who joins him as competition in the mayoral race, which will be decided in a city election in March of next year. One key possibility is Chattanooga City Council chair Pam Ladd, who told supporters a few weeks ago that her decision whether to get in hinges on pulling in enough cash this month to be able to compete: "If I don't have $150,000 in the bank by August, I'm not going to pull the trigger."
