Memphis blogger Steve Ross (who is running for Shelby County Commissioner) found that hundreds of people in Memphis have been given the wrong ballots in the current elections. When the Commercial Appeal posted their story about it, the election commission was denying Ross's findings: "Holden was confident the commission databases do correctly follow the new redistricting lines and said he was unsure whether Ross was applying correct information in his analysis."
But by Tuesday afternoon, Lauren Lee from Fox 13 in Memphis had gotten the Shelby County Election Chairman to admit that close to 1,000 incorrect ballots had been given to voters.
And by the end of the day on Tuesday, the Commercial Appeal had the whole story on the incorrect ballots. The take-away is that people were given the wrong ballots, but the votes are final, so tough for them.
Let's hope this problem is limited to Shelby County.
