In Pissing Match with Occupiers, Rep. Eric Watson Fires Back: 'Jesus Would Not Approve'

In an email to an Occupy Nashville supporter, Rep. Eric Watson accuses the movement of exploiting homeless people to advance its political agenda. Citing crimes, public peeing and various sex acts that he claims have been widespread on War Memorial Plaza, Watson chides the protesters: "Jesus would not approve."

In another development, Occupy Nashville has called a meeting of its so-called Crisis Committee at 4 o'clock this afternoon to discuss whether to declare victory and go home before the legislature votes to evict the protesters and they all go to jail again.

"Bring your thinking cap and creative ideas," organizers say.

I dunno, Rep. Watson. I think it's more likely that Jesus would kick your ass (metaphorically speaking) for being a self-righteous Pharisee.

I have to agree with Rep.Watson.The Occupy movement plan has always been to climb on the backs of existing problems and try to convince folks that's what Occupy stands for. They are great with the rhetoric and getting media attention but they have never come up with a plan. I don't count homesteading on public property and pissing on sidewalks a plan. Why would anyone take that type of approach as credible?

Packing up, going home and calling it a victory isn't a victory, it's quitting. Maybe getting a trophy for coming in last place in your soccer league when you where 10 years old was a warm and fuzzy thing to do but in the real world quitters never win. Occupy, grow up and learn how to work the system. Standing in the rain and screaming slogans at passing motorists just gets your feet wet.

Do any of these protestants know why they're there? They should be up in Washington, D.C. if they upset with the bailouts.

Well, in the version of the Bible I read on Sundays, Jesus as a homeless dude occupying Judea, Samaria and Galilee, drawing numbers so large that the authorities were called out numerous times until he was finally arrested on trumped up charges and executed for being a trouble maker preaching against the authority of the wealthy and powerful elite.

I guess Rep. Eric Watson uses Andy Schlafly's Conservative Bible Project translation, where Jesus lives in a McMansion in a gated community along with his fellow "job creators," preaching a gospel of personal responsibility and free market capitalism. Those in need are that way because they're lazy and unworthy.

Figures.

But facts aside, I really wish people would stop dragging their opinions of what Jesus would or would not approve of into these debates. It's just offensive.

Beale, I agree with you, but I can't resist suggesting that Jesus would approve of your comment.

And don't go turning over the moneychangers' tables! Jesus wouldn't like that either!

I'm not sure about Eric Watson, but Jesus would probably approve of this:

Thanks to an online petition started by Occupy Nashville, 78 year old Helen Bailey won't be kicked out of her house in the middle of winter. That's more than the TN GOP has done for people in need in this state. All they've done is lecture everyone about how they need to get off the government teet.

ANDERSONVILLE THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY NEWS
September 2011
********************************************
ANDERSONVILLE GRADUATE
STATE REPRESENTATIVE ERIC WATSON
SPONSORED RESOLUTION PASSED BY TENNESSEE GENERAL ASSEMBLY
TO URGE POSTING OF TEN COMMANDMENTS IN COURT HOUSES
http://www.andersonvilleseminary.com/2120/…

"Tennessee State Representative Eric Watson sponsored a resolution in Tennessee urging all counties in that state to post the Ten Commandments as an historical document in order to preserve America’s Christian heritage. The resolution was passed by a unanimous vote earlier this year in the Tennessee General Assembly. Watson said the Ten Commandments are the foundation of the American legal system and it is important to remind counties across the state that they have the right to post the Ten Commandments in appropriate ways in county courthouses.

Watson stated “Those that want to deny our heritage as a Christian nation have litigated the posting of the Ten Commandments; however, sound legal reasoning has prevailed and courts have upheld the right to post the Ten Commandments. Our Christian Heritage is clear.” He went on to say that Americans must aggressively defend the nation’s Christian heritage instead of standing idly by while the few and powerful attempt to create a Godless America. Small groups make loud noises to keep God’s historical words out of government, but as the largest group in the nation, Christians must be louder."

ANDERSONVILLE THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY NEWS
August 2011
********************************************
STATE REPRESENTATIVE ERIC WATSON FROM TENNESSEE
GRADUATE OF ANDERSONVILLE THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY
http://www.andersonvilleseminary.com/2057/…

"Representative Eric Watson, representative for district 22 in Tennessee, is a proud graduate of Andersonville Theological Seminary and shares that information with all who visit his website at www.capitol.tn.gov/house/members/h22.html. Actually, according to Representative Watson, it was his Bible principles that earned him the nickname of “the Bible thumper” and ultimately helped him to win the election. Serving as a member of the 104th through the 107th General assemblies, Watson has provided leadership as the Chair of the House Judiciary Committee, member of the House State and Local Government Committee, member of the House General Subcommittee of Judiciary, member of Task Force on Immigration and Citizenship, and member of NCSL standing committee on Law and Criminal Justice. Representative Watson is also the recipient of the 2010 Outstanding Representative Award given by the County Officials Association of Tennessee.

Eric Watson has not only been an instrumental figure in governing Tennessee, but has also known great success in gospel music. From 1998 through 2005, Eric and the Tennessee Harmony charted 6 top 80 songs across America in the Christian music charts. Now, that is an accomplishment! It is apparent that Eric is not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ in his music or his politics!

TNGA Rep. Eric Watson has purchased two bogus degrees from the same mail-order store that Tennessee Regulatory Authority Chairman Kenneth C. Hill purchased his "doctorate" degree: Andersonville Theological Seminary

Rep. Eric Watson
Andersonville Theological Seminary, Camilla, GA., Masters Degree, Summa Cum Laude
Andersonville Theological Seminary, Camilla, GA., Bachelor of Education, Summa Cum Laude

TRA Chairman Hill purchased his doctorate mail order degree in Doctor of Religious Education from Andersonville Baptist Seminary for approximately $750 dollars. Andersonville Baptist Seminary (now d.b.a. Andersonville Theological Seminary) was listed as a non-accredited institute of higher learning by the federal government and operates (i.e. selling ATS books and materials) out of a small, commercial, store front building in Camilla, Georgia:

I wonder if it cost Rep. (sic) Watson more to be declared the valedictorian of both his undergraduate and graduate classes ... or if he was the only one enrolled (sic) in those classes. Somehow getting degrees from a school (sic) whose initials are A-BS seems fitting for this witty legislator (by half).

It really looks like traditionally moderate Tennessee Republicans have completely exited the political arena these days, leaving us to suffer the antics of the far-reich flying monkeys who've taken their places. Just remember: don't get too close to their cages or these monkeys will throw a handful of their "output" at you.
