The Republican legislative leadership unveiled its Congressional re-districting plan Friday and, boy, was Jim Cooper thrilled.
The walking definition of "staid" let loose — in his way — when he saw the new maps:
“Thank you for keeping Nashville together. The ‘Andrew Jackson District’ is intact! I regret losing any of my friends in Wilson County but I hope to make new friends in Dickson County and the parts of Cheatham that I do not already represent.”
An exclamation point? Easy there, congressman. We haven't seen you this pumped since the latest version of PowerPoint hit the streets.
And why shouldn't he be thrilled? The GOP line-drawers didn't slice Davidson County as some folks speculated they might. His core stays together, and as a bonus, he doesn't have to campaign in Lebanon anymore. Dickson's lovely in September, by the way.
