"Because I have no money or name recognition I plan on running my campaign on the internet."
Brentwood accountant Darrell Hillis, 55, announcing that he is throwing his hat in the ring as an independent candidate in the 2012 presidential election. His full press release appears below.

PRESS RELEASE
December 20, 2011
From: Darrell Hillis for President in 2012
Today I am announcing that I am running for President of the United States in 2012. The Federal Election Commission has approved my application to run for President. I will be running as an independent candidate. This is my first time to run for political office.

I am 55 years old and live in Brentwood, Tennessee with my wife Laura and son Andy who is a college student at Lee University. Have spent my entire professional career in accounting and currently I am the senior partner with Hillis and Clark, CPAs, PLLC in Nashville, Tennessee where I specialize in taxes and business consulting.

The reason I am running for office is that I believe that the ones currently running are more concerned about political power than they are about addressing and solving the problems facing our Country today. I have developed a web site where I give my positions on tax reform, criminal justice reform, immigration reform and several other key issues. The web address is www.darrellhillisforpresident.com. I am not afraid to address the key issues of today and how I would go about solving these problems. My email address is dhforpresident@gmail.com.

It’s time we had a President who is a leader and will bring fresh ideas to the office. Because I have no money or name recognition I plan on running my campaign on the internet. I believe I offer the public someone who will speak for the average, everyday American in the White House.

God Bless America

Darrell Hillis

Mr. Hillis: Try running for some sort of local office first. Maybe you could actually get elected and start to make a difference. Or are you worried you might actually win and have to do the work? Out-of-nowhere candidates like you get made fun of because obviously they have no chance to win, but it is equally valid to criticize you for claiming an ability to govern while wasting that supposed ability on a quixotic dream. If you actually want to help run the country, get real and run for something you have a chance of winning. That's what someone who really cares about the country would do.

Nobody can beat the "doughboy" Newt and his unbelievably super uptight wife!(#3 or is it #4?) Two Catholic adulterers (typical for the breed) that God has blessed!. (He now talks directly to Newt). Combine this with unparalleled hypocrisy and no one has a chance! Give it up Mr. Hillis

Interestingly, he has a very sane gun ownership policy. Also, while he says he is "pro-life," he says he will "not allow any funding" for abortion. Which is how things are now. So I am guessing that means he won't try to ban abortion?

Anyway, perhaps we should spread the news to disgruntled Republicans. There IS another option besides the crazy gandpa, the stiff Mormon, the loony Texan, the corrupt serial adulterer ... Hope at last, Republicans! Hope at last!
