Stop me if you think that you've heard this one before. Over at Daily Kos, Horace Boothroyd III has posted video he Matthew Hamill shot while apparently being arrested by Metro Police in the midst of covering an Occupy Nashville rally. From the post:
So I am a reporter for WRFN 107.1. I do a weekly Radio show on the Occupy Nashville Movement called "This Occupied Life" Some of my shows are actually uploaded on this channel on youtube. Last Night on Dec. 3rd at approximately 12:30 I was taken into custody by Police for standing on the street "Obstructing Traffic" while trying to do my job covering a March that was taking place in the streets by Occupy Nashville. Police had notified protestors to "get off the streets or (they would) go to jail" Moments later they hopped out of their cars and started arresting people. I thought I would be ok since I was Clearly Marked via Press Pass! However, unfortunately, I thought wrong.
In an eerie echo of the footage shot by the Scene's Jonathan Meador when he was rounded up by state troopers, Boothroyd Hammill's camera keeps rolling as he's taken into custody while exclaiming, "I'm with the press!" I'm with the press!" You can hear what appears to be the arresting officer (whom Boothroyd Hammill identifies in his blog post as Matt Evans) say, "I said get out of the street, get out of the street. I don't care who you are."
Showing 1-11 of 11
the person arrested was 'Matthew Hammil', not the KOS author who reposted the story. can we get a correction on this.
Obviously, though claiming to be "with the press", Mr. Boothroyd is unable to understand simple English when told to "get off the streets". Or, it could be that the signal of the station for which Mr. Boothroud claims to "report" cannot actually be received in downtown Nashville so, to the cops, it could all have been a hoax.
Excellent critical thinking Emmett. Clearly- IF the station's signal doesn't reach downtown, THEN it doesn't exist.
Exactly, ras. If a tree falls in the forest and there's noone present, does it make a sound?
If a pipsqueak radio station has an effective area of service of about a hundred yards, does it really exist except in the minds of the "progressives" programming the station?
It started life as an illegal AM station and hasn't progressed far from its roots.
"If a pipsqueak radio station has an effective area of service of about a hundred yards, does it really exist except in the minds of the "progressives" programming the station?"
Good one Mr. Flatus! The area of service probably doesn't extend past the parking lot! The only losers who listen to that station are East Nashville hipster doofuses who sit under large radio towers with rabbit eared antennas taped to their heads! LOL!!!!! Mr. Phil Valentine has more people on hold at any given time than all the libtards who have ever listened to that station put together!
It would not surprise me if, truth be known, he just got out there and hoped he would be arrested. certainly he needs to go to court and pay a fine, perhaps, $50. Or, do 24 hrs in jail. I'll admit it would have been more efficient to tap him on the head , fairly hard, with a police baton. Actually, the police should use those long sticks you see on TV used for crowd control in the poorer nations. India comes to mind.
Resume' builder ignores Police command to get out of the street on 3
occasions then given citation to court. Barely employed Resume' builder
claims peership with Walter Cronkite and receives a bit of You Tube following
along with local press from other Cronkite's!
For those that care, the long stick Asian police use to breakup disturbances is called a lathi. I'll betcha OWS'ers would have vamoosed if the police had used some of those. See page 34 in the new VF. They have a sobering look at what we face in this country and all over the world. Not pretty.
It has metazstized to Autsralia. Here is a vidoe from Melbourne where the Occupiers were wearing their tents as clothes. Watch the clip. The SCENE should send someone down there.
More policee brutality, mate.
