The New York Times has a story about the surge in free school lunches in this country. The news for Tennessee is not good: 58.3 percent of students are eligible for free lunches, and "the number of students receiving subsidized meals has grown 37 percent since 2007."
There's no doubt that we've been hit very hard by the recession and the most vulnerable Tennesseans have been hit hardest. We need to put their parents back to work as soon as possible.
