World AIDS Day
Where: Ingram Hall, Vanderbilt
When: 6:30 p.m. Thu., Dec. 1

Some 30 years after the first cases of what would come to be known as Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome were reported by the Centers for Disease Control, many around the world still suffer. And it hits home: Tennessee ranks fifth nationally in HIV-related deaths.

The Nashville World AIDS Day event at Vanderbilt offers a wealth of information, including the latest research and local resources, door prizes, a photo booth and free, confidential onsite HIV testing. But more than that, it offers a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have lived and continue to live with HIV and AIDS. A multimedia presentation will tell the stories of victims and survivors through a combination of live theater, music, dance and film.
