When the President accuses a segment of the population of clinging to their guns and bibles, and a lot of NASCAR fans own guns and bibles, what other reaction could be expected when the first lady shows up slumming at a Southern car race? In fact, despite media reports, the fans weren't booing. What happened was they couldn't understand the introduction over the PA system (you know how that is)and were yelling, "Whooo? Whooo?" And the fans couldn't be expected to applaud anyway because they each needed at least one hand to hold their bibles. Maybe they could have high-fived each other real fast so that it sounded like applause; that only takes one hand. A high-fiving scenario might sound silly but no sillier than expecting the 1st Lady to receive a warm welcome at a stock car race in the South.

Good take Commentator! I for one have never been prouder of my sport and it's fans! If I had been there, I would not only have booed, I'd have mooned her! Oh, those would have been stories to last a lifetime!!!!!
Ah, gast... you do ramble on. I suppose your oblique attempts at humor go over swimmingly at the club or your tea bagging events. Not so much, as written. Perhaps read aloud with your snide delivery and knowing leer would get them over the hump your written skills haven't overcome.
What strikes me as humorous is imagining yourself, the capable Ms. Locke and the NASCAR folk all cozy on pit row, sharing a bottle of Château Lafite Rothschild 1982, discussing the finer points of supply side economics and the Laffer curve. Are you going to grow big sideburns and switch to PBR for the occasion? Maybe your "Obama Sucks" wife-beater tee? I can just see you now reared back - roaring out the chorus to "Freebird" with a dip of Copenhagen tucked in your lip.
**shrugs** It's Nascar. We're lucky they didn't hurl cans of PBR at the First Lady.

Well over 100,000 people attend a NASCAR event where a few cretins boo the First Lady and that is reflective of millions of people? By that logic I am sure you will agree that the Occupy {your city here} protesters are a collection of violent anarchists, petty criminals and bored homeless people.
Is it any wonder why our politics is so screwed up? When you treat everyone on the other side by the standards of the worst of the group, you undermine any hope of bringing the rational middle together. If you were as enlightened s you both presume, you would understand that.
And here I was thinking myself to be SO enlightened and I really wasn't all along. It only took a few words of wisdom from Mark Rogers to set me straight. Here I was thinking the occupiers were patriotic Americans exercising their constitutional rights but they're all just violent perverts and homeless criminals! The scales have been lifted from mine eyes! I'm sorry I was screwing up American politics for everybody. I'm on the straight and narrow now. Nothing but the rational middle for me! (Wink and a thumbs up to fellow patriot Mark Rogers.)
That's okay, Smoothy, I'm still saving you as an option, behind the two truckers I met when I was walking around asking questions at the Pilot station outside Chattanooga.
