Last night, Occupy Nashville posted an announcement on their website, claiming that they had interrupted a dinner where Donald Rumsfeld was set to speak:
Shouting “I call upon you to surrender yourself as a war criminal” in a ballroom filled with Nashville’s moneyed elite, members of Occupy Nashville infiltrated an elaborate gala Thursday night where former defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld gave a keynote address.
Above, video of their gathering outside the Hilton, including firsthand accounts from some of the bargers-in.

Thank you to the Vet that provided the tickets and the O.N. protesters for speaking the truth on my behalf. I suspect this is the only accountability that will ever be had for Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld re:Iraq.
Very "Kooky", indeed:
"...Rumsfeld’s dinner was sponsored by the right-wing, pro-war think-tank and lobby group The Heritage Foundation as a fundraiser for Tennessee Lynchpins of Liberty, an obscure organization consisting of one man: Williamson County Republican Party Chairman Kevin Kookogey, according to a report in The Tennessean newspaper."
Probably not the first time that the Williamson County Republican Party was headed up by a Kook...

"Heritage Associates Kevin and Bonnie Kookogey of Franklin, TN, support The Heritage Foundation — not just as principled conservatives, but also as concerned citizens. “My wife and I are both very passionate about America — we love our country,” explains Kevin, a music industry veteran who manages a prominent band. “Other than our church, Heritage is the most important group we can give to — because the situation our country is facing right now is probably more serious than at any time in our history.” Kevin’s concern for America — plus his love of reading and his commitment to conservative ideas — is reflected in his personal library."

Teleprompt Records
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teleprompt_Records
"Teleprompt Records LLC is an independent record label that was formed in 2003 by producer Tedd T, keyboardist and Mutemath vocalists Paul Meany, and lawyer/manager Kevin Kookogey. The label was forged with the sole intention of promoting and distributing music for Meany's start up project Mutemath. The small label is based in Franklin, Tennessee and has an exclusive distribution deal with Warner Bros. Records. New Orleans rock outfit Mutemath remains the only artist on their roster.
Controversy
In mid 2005, Teleprompt Records engaged Warner Music Group in litigation involving the marketing and distribution of Mutemath as a Warner artist. Teleprompt claimed that the marketing of Mutemath as a "Christian" band on WB's Word Records constituted breach of contract and negligent mis-representation. Meany and Kookogey both made public statements regarding the action via various media outlets including MTV[1] and Billboard[2], the latter of which ran a cover story on the incident. Warner never made a public statement. Meany's version of the story claims that they had an agreement to be represented by the mainstream Warner label from the beginning and that WBR was continuously refusing to honor their end of the bargain. When the two parties entered litigation, all the rights to Mutemath's previously released work on Reset EP remained with Warner and the group opted to release their debut LP on their own without any previously recorded material to avoid more conflict. The suit was settled out of court as of August 10, 2006 with a newly forged contract and exclusive distribution deal with Warner Bros. Records who re-released the group's LP on WBR in September 2006."

"because the situation our country is facing right now is probably more serious than at any time in our history"
I know that zealots have a tendency lay the hyperbole on really thick, but did this guy blank out on the years 1861-1865?
It took a lot of courage for those four members of Occupy Nashville to walk into the 'belly of the beast', and then stand-up and challenge former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld; not knowing what faced them for their actions. They speak for a silent America which has lost sons and daughters in a conflict that he ordered, in the "name of God and America's divine destiny." We also salute their sponsor for his own courage. We do NOT need another war.
Joshua
So, Joshua, you have nothing to say about Obama bombing the crap out of Libya? Or did Gadhafi deserve it? How about Obama sending troops to Uganda to fight rebels there? Never even crossed your mind, did it, that we now have soldiers risking their lives in Uganda for who-the-hell-knows why. How about a whim? But hey, it's okay if Obama makes war, isn't it? Must be, no liberal has spoken against it.
Joshua,
Riiiight. It takes all sorts of courage to interrupt someone else's event and impede their free speech. Next you will be justifying the use of limited violence to achieve your goals. Then it will be more violence. And finally you will be placing yellow stars on your political foes. There is probably no more dangerous force in the world than well-meaning fools who think they are the only ones who can comprehend what the world should be.
So gast, you think there was not enough evidence that Gadhafi was a brutal, murderous dictator? What kind of hoops do you have to jump through logically, mentally, how hard do you have to lie to yourself, to ignore overwhelming evidence to come to this reprehensible position? In this I think you've exceeded even your propagandists comrades at Fox News.
To defend innocent people against genocide in Uganda needs more justification in your eyes? Our president doesn't need to lie to the American people about his motives in these conflicts. They are apparent to normal, moral Americans. You, on the other hand, are one sick and miserable fuck.
@Smoochybozo: What I was referring to was the typical liberal hypocrisy - screaming about Bush taking out Saddam Hussein and saying nothing about Gadhafi. And why should American troops be in Uganda? That's freaking ridiculous...as is your thought processes, or lack thereof. Don't you ever see how silly you look screaming about something your side does too. Of course not. I can't imagine that you walk upright your head is so dense.
Nobody had to lie about the reasons we went after Gadhafi, dumbass. That's the difference. And we did it with the UN and NOT unilaterally (at the cost of the American tax payer.) And now I should take the time to explain to you WHY we went into Uganda to save innocent people from genocide? And I'm dense? You think you're so fucking smart just because you look down your nose at other countries. Your no better than any Ugandan you miserable piece of dog shit. Just because they weren't born in America doesn't make them any less worthy of justice or human rights. What makes America great is that we defend the defenseless AGAINST tyranny where we can. You go ahead and defend the execution of the war in Iraq with all the liars and war profiteers like cheney and rumy. You make me want to puke coat hangers.
You can bet your bottom dollar that Obama welcomes the Saddam/Gadhafi debate. The difference in those two approaches is the size of the Grand Canyon. I was skeptical of the Libyan intervention in the beginning but you can't argue it's success. We spent a couple billion on this, which sounds like a lot but compared to Iraq, is just a tiny fraction and not one American live lost. And unlike the Iraq situation, no insurgency and anti-American activity. And American influence and respect is actually on the rise in the Middle East, something you could not say during the Bush years.
Andrew Sullivan, a former supporter of both the Republican Party and the War in Iraq, has said of Obama's foreign policy successes (quietly taking out many Al Queda operatives, the mission in Osama's compound, and the Libyan operation), to paraphrase, "if this was a Republican president, the Right would be lobbying for space on Mount Rushmore."
That's exactly right. And it was interesting watching the Republican foreign policy debate and how all the Republicans took turns taking shots at Obama on Iran and then when asked what they would do differently, basically described exactly what Obama is already doing. Interesting times indeed.
Okay, history revisionists: So operating on misinformation - the yellowcake from Niger was from British intel and the spy who provided it committed suicide the day after the invasion started - makes somebody a liar? You idiots forget -as usual - the reason we were virtually alone in the invasion is because our "allies" were doing billions of dollars in illegal business with Iraq in violation of UN sanctions. You also forget that Bill Clinton said that with the information we had President Bush would be derelict in his duty if he didn't invade. You also forget that Saddam Hussein, right before he was executed said that he wanted the world to believe he had WMDs to prevent Iran from invading. He said he believed we would drop a few bombs and that would be it.
If we have troops in Uganda why didn't we have them in Darfur? Obama's had plenty of time to take care of that. What is really galling is that we have another Democrat sending troops off to war, troops that are very predominantly conservative because libs seem to have a hard time serving their country; they're too busy trying to take something away from their country. They've reversed JFK's most famous line. Smoochybozo and CA are a couple of crybabies writing misinformation in the hopes that somebody might believe it. They always have to avoid and ignore pertinent information to make their point and they're hypocrites for opposing the Iraq war and not opposing the Libyan war.
And what the hell is going through the heads of people that sell AK-47s to Mexican drug lords? Unbelievable thinking. Worse than Waco.
You're so ass-backward you're literally looking out your own asshole. Go ahead, twist yourself in knots trying to defend the biggest pooch screw in history. AND I SAID we defend the innocent against tyranny WHERE WE CAN. You buffoon. Circumstances and resources don't allow us to intervene EVERYWHERE. And oh how you'd howl if we did. We need to keep that money at home so we can afford more tax breaks for silver spoon fucks like you. Cry babies. Misinformation. Somebody comes along and calls bullshit on your intricate web of half truths and lies and you lose it. You're pathetic.
Smoochybozo: As usual you can't relate to or refute the actual facts and, as usual, you ignore the significance of the facts and start ranting out of frustration. Open your mind, Grasshopper, you've been fed misinformation your whole life.
I'd rather just fade away than look at the world the way you do gast. The preponderance of facts are on my side, I don't have to adjust my view. I don't see vast media conspiracies, hoo-doo and boogers around every corner, reporters stationed around the country waiting for old ladies to be turned away from voting booths, hippies trying to snatch free lunches from my plate, or grandiose socialist schemes. I can't, nor do I know ANY reasonable person, who can equate Adolph Hitler and Barack Obama. I don't know what horrific events occurred in your development, whether it was a tragic accident or a corrective boot of some sort, but you have a pitiable outlook on society and the human condition. The milk of human kindness is not in you.
I cringe, as I'm sure a lot of other people do when I flex on your stupidity. I wonder, why take the time? Why do I let this half-wit get under my skin? I can't sit idly by and listen to you spout your venomous bile and let it go unchallenged. Perhaps if you weren't SO ridiculous I could ignore you. That's how you developed the preposterous positions you hold. You surround yourself with like minded, small minded people, snicker behind your hands at the same phobic jokes, bolster your positions with Rush Limbaugh, Shaun Hannity and Newt Gingrich and ignore the balance of evidence. You think you're so smart by cherry picking your facts, but that's not deductive reasoning, it's inductive.
Leaving you unchallenged is how the holocaust happened, that's how dictators thrive, that's why genocide goes unchecked, this notion that one human life is less valuable than another, that your rights take precedence over mine. I'm not going away, I'm not infallible but I'm calling bullshit on you when I hear it. And you are CHOCKED full of bullshit.
@Smoochybozo: When you got to the part about not being infallible you finally got to the truth. And you still can't refute anything I wrote, at least not with the truth.
Sorry I didn't take the time to refute your "facts." I've heard all that bullshit when the bush administration trotted it out the first time. When you say something worth refuting, I'll be happy to oblige.
