In addition to being a gifted artist and an enchanting personality, Peggy Snow is an invaluable chronicler of a Nashville that used to be, creating gorgeous visual records of old and endangered buildings, many of them soon to be destroyed. I've long been a fan, and I've written about her as both an artist and a musician.
So I was elated when I saw this segment, by NewsChannel 5 reporter Jeff Tang and photojournalist Nathan Thompson, which aired on Friday. It's a fabulous report following Snow as she paints a picture of the dilapidated Silverdene mansion in East Nashville — before it gets unceremoniously leveled by bulldozers.
By local TV news standards — or any standards, for that matter — it's a thoughtfully narrated, well-edited and surprisingly in-depth report. Hats off to Tang, Thompson, NewsChannel 5, and most of all Snow.
