For the sixth year in a row, Music City’s African-American theater companies have banded together to present Shades of Black Theatre Festival — a series of new plays and play readings, workshops, comedy and poetry. The second main-stage production of the festival features an original script by Shawn Whitsell in which the loving and loyal wife of a mega-church pastor finds herself living in the shadow of her husband’s success — and also his indiscretions. Her struggle is to find balance, forgiveness and redemption. Whitsell directs a cast featuring Mike James, Jennifer Worthy, LaTia Lewis, Gayle Demonbreun, Molly Breen, Jimmie Hill and Garre Derek.
