' Dave Itzkoff caught Tracy Morgan's stand-up set
at Caroline's in Times Square Saturday night — the besieged comedian's first performance since his notorious June 3 Ryman show, which featured a particularly vicious homophobic rant. We won't relive all the details since it's been reported and blogged about everywhere (including here
on Pith), but suffice to say Morgan wound up in a lot of hot water with his NBC employers and many gay rights organizations — so much so that he came back to Nashville to offer an apology
From Itzkoff's recounting of the show, it's clear Morgan is a changed man:
Resuming his routine, Mr. Morgan warned his audience, “Don’t ever mess with women who have retarded kids.” As groans and cries of “Uh-oh” were heard, he continued, “Them young retarded males is strong. They’re strong like chimps.”
Finally, he concluded with a bit about his alleged teenage romance with a girl he described as “a cripple” with a prosthetic arm, a mechanical larynx and a portable dialysis machine.
See you at the next apology?
