An Actual Quote from a Person Who Wants Your Sympathy

Posted by Betsy Phillips on Thu, Jun 9, 2011 at 10:54 AM

"Lawmakers often are faced with multiple receptions; a couple of years ago, there were seven during a single evening!"—Mark Greene, the lobbyist's lobbyist.

Seven parties, full of booze and food? Oh, those poor, poor put-upon lawmakers. My heart breaks for them and their multiple parties a night.

How many parties and receptions were held in the Governor's party bunker? We don't hear anything about it, certainly the average citizen will NEVER get to see it. Did the governor threaten the media if they continued to report/criticize about it?

Yeah, those poor drunken legislators, not able to get to all 7 and get all their bribe money---er campaign donations.

Actually, now that the Republicans have changed the law on campaign contributions, these receptions have become HARD WORK for lawmakers! They'll be able to actively shake down lobbyists - DURING the legislative session while the lobbyists' bills are being considered - for the newly-allowed CORPORATE CONTRIBUTIONS to their campaigns.

So yes, these guys and gals will be WORKING VERY HARD during these multiple receptions, thanks to our hard-workin' Republican Majority.

I think next year they'll follow up with a law allowing legislators to carry GUNS to these events, to protect our freedoms.

If our legislature were breathlyzed and drug-tested (think Stacey "Nacho Loombre" Campfield and Ophelia "Crack Courtesan" Ford) on a daily basis, it would be hard to round up a quorum.

These days, that might be a good thing.

I meant Stacey "Nacho Loonbre" Campfield.

Boy, what have I been smoking? (Obviously not enough, whatever it is.)

Priceless find, Betsy. I also understand that lawmakers have to stoop to such functions as shitting, pissing, bathing, and clothing themselves, often without assistance. Life can be so hard.

Remember it's the Lobbyist Association lobbying to keep lobbyist contributions illegal.
Think about it, the next time you're pondering the {"free speech" = money} of your own beliefs.
