Nate Eppler’s been a major player in Music City theater in recent years — as actor, director, and also as a playwright who has garnered regional attention with his original scripts. Long Way Down was an entry in last year’s Ingram New Works Festival at Tennessee Rep, and now 3Ps Productions presents Eppler’s dark comedy under the direction of Lauren Shouse.
Eppler’s script, which was originally developed at the Kennedy Center Playwriting Intensive (and later benefited from the guidance of Pulitzer Prize-winning Proof playwright David Auburn), explores religious zealotry, violence, and the “struggle to find new life in a very damaged world,” promising laughter along with its sobriety. An experienced and talented cast has been assembled, including Rachel Agee, David Compton, Rebekah Durham and Jennifer Richmond.
