Silverman Geert Wilders: 'Wake Up, Christians of Tennessee! Islam Is at Your Gate!'

As we noted last week on Pith, Dutch politician Geert Wilders was in town last week, fanning the flames of Islamophobia at Maury Davis' Cornerstone Church. After reading the full text of Wilders' speech on Jihad Watch, I couldn't help but think of the above video from the Onion News Network, which came to us courtesy of Pith reader Angry White Patriot.

My friends, I am sorry. I am here today with an unpleasant message. I am here with a warning. I am here with a battle cry: “Wake up, Christians of Tennessee. Islam is at your gate.” Do not make the mistake which Europe made. Do not allow islam to gain a foothold here.Islam is dangerous. Islam wants to establish a state on earth, ruled by Islamic sharia law. Islam aims for the submission, whether by persuasion, intimidation or violence, of all non-Muslims, including Christians.

They need your support.

No, because most USians were confused between Communism and being Russian, and there was no emigration from Russia at that time. So it was all much more abstract and less directed against actual immigrants. The attacks on USians who were accused of sharing Communist ideology were pretty bad (and similar to this sort of stuff), but the anti-immigrant part of it is largely an innovation.

Silverman, how can you post that video and still mock Mr. Wilders?!?!! Have you been down Nolensville road recently? There are these "friendly" decoy Muslims everywhere! They even have their own stores! For the love of all that is good and holy, where will it all end?!?!! The answer is obvious: Tennessee will be an Islamic Republic and the law will be Sharia law!!!!! Ashley, you'd be more on target looking for comparisons not to old rants about Soviet-era real or imaginary Communists (which had their own style) but to older paranoid fearmongering against supposedly invading, powerful, fearsome and alien Roman Catholics or Jews. Almost no practical difference between this and those experiences. And it's often coming from similar sources.

The big differences are that there was not an organized effort to undermine America on the part of our Muslim community and Muslim extremists do not have any realistic hope of dominating the world nor do they practice mass murder on the scale of the Soviets.
The left in America loves to talk about the horrors of 'McCarthyism' without mentioning the context which gave rise to the Red Scare. From at least the 1930s members of the left in America served as agents for the Soviet Union doing a variety of things from spying to recruiting new members to serving as apologists for Soviet actions.
It was American and British communists who leaked the secrets of the atomic bomb to the Russians. It was the New York Times' reporter Walter Duranty who covered up the truth about the purges in Russia in the 30s. Alger Hiss was a spy responsible for passing secrets to the Soviets for years and for influencing FDR to trust Stalin during the negotiations about post-war Europe.
The American Muslim community has been far more honest about the dangers of its radicals than the American left ever has about its members' involvement in undermining America. And, unlike the majority of Muslim radicals, the lefties who sided with the Soviets were usually well-educated and influential.
As I tell my Irish and Italian friends, "White for 100 years and counting! You're welcome!"
@Ashley Spurgeon: You think Russia and communism were not threats? You could ask the older people of Poland, Hungary, Czechoslavakia (formerly), etc, etc, what they think about that. Another thing to consider: NATO wasn't formed to fend off Austria and there were a whole lot of smart people from many countries involved in its formation. Smart people like Eisenhower, Truman, Churchill and DeGaulle. Now, consider the voices and actions of those smart people compared to that of the lunatic left in America - well, actually the lunatic left exists worldwide. If, after this brief explanation, you still have doubts as to whether Russia and communism were threats to us, revisit my second sentence. Thankfully, Mr. Gorbachev finally tore down that wall.

And perhaps, Concerned, you could also, after looking at the Koran, bother to look at about a thousand years of that religion's working history and variations since, and the historiclally varied views and practices of the hundred of millions who are of that faith, before imagining that vaguely udnerstood lines extracted here and there from their holy book tells you very much of anythng about contemporary politics.
Reality takes a little time to digest, I'm afraid. It doesns't fit on a bumper sticker. And tends to clash with harrangues by invited guest rabid extremists (of whatever faith).

Political Islam and communism are similar in their totalitarian aims. Of course, traditional Islam is a religion and not an ideology. The freakish, fanatical version of Islam that has devoured the majority of adherents bears little semblance to what once was an actual and great religion. The perverted faith of today is an embarassment to Muslim reformers and many adherents but most are too afraid to speak out.
The obvious distinction between political Islam and communism is the former seeks to create a religious theocracy, the latter a political police state. Both were and are aided and abetted by the anti-American Left, although attempts are made today to deny the left-wing's active support of Marxism from the time of the Popular Front in the Thirties until the fall of the Berlin Wall in the Eightie. Those who opposed the spread of communism, like Wilders attempts to thwart political Islam today, were undermined by America's left-wing. The Left failed then, and it will fail now, and once again will land on the ashheap of history with Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, and bin Laden.

Can you name three Muslim-majority countries that are theocracies? With 1.6 billion Muslims in the world, you'd think there would be more than one theocracy (in Iran).
There are totalitarian states in the Muslim world, but I'm pretty sure that totalitarianism is just as related to the existence of oil as it is to religion.

John: Maybe it's the old "enemy of my enemy is my friend" thing. The Left's enemy in this country is anyone who opposes their thoughts and actions. What's ironic is that our military is lopsided conservative so the Left has to depend on conservatives to do the fighting to defend their freedoms. My favorite home-made axiom: "When there's a call to arms young conservatives join the military, young liberals wait two months and join a protest." Back in the Cold War the irony was that the Left was defending American communists' right to undermine our government, and if they were successful, take away all the freedoms of a democracy including those of the Left.
@Ashley: Another thing: only ten percent of the USSR's people belonged to the Communist Party so you could say that was pretty much a dictatorship. And if a country's title started with "People"s Republic," it wasn't.

Seriously John, do you actually think about what your saying before you say it? The left may defend Islam from grossly unfair attacks but the right is the one with the infatuation. And the poster calling himself Truth points out that the "anti-American left" (of which he probably lumps every left of center American) aided and abetted Marxism, which is probably true to some extent (although a much smaller percentage than you probably think). But there is rarely ever a mention of the right in America in the thirties which supported the Nazis and other fascist governments worldwide. If fascism hadn't fallen after World War II (which ironically would never have happened were it not for the Soviets and the terrible losses they took to defend their homeland) who knows where it would have led, but Nazi Germany had plenty of Americans who were ready to aid and abet them, and they weren't from the left.

This is not exactly an insult, you just post all the time. Too much IMO. One problem is you invariably wish to say the you do it, too. In this case communists and the right prior to WWII. Simply, few in this country on the right cared about fascism but were isolationists and wanted nothing to to do with Europe's wars.
As for pre-WWII, the American left marched with the Soviet Union and opposed Hitler. After the Soviets signed on with Hitler, he was the left's new best friend, silence reigned until he invaded Russia.
As for the right, those that did sympathize with the Nazis gave that up with the invasion of Poland. Relatively few in this country ever supported Germany. The Rosevelt adminstration was loaded with communists and fellow travelers, home grown spies went so far as to steal the atomic bomb secrets (see Rosenbergs), and pass them on to the Soviets.
The radical left and communists in this country have a lot to regret. I don't think I would want to be anywhere near them.

Yes there was an American Fascist movement in the 30s. And it attracted large crowds as a result of the perceived economic successes of Hitler and Mussolini. Depressions tend to cause some people to look for saviors rather than rely on themselves. For a variety of reasons, America never fell under the spell of a totalitarian leader although FDR's court packing scheme could have given it a run.
However the pro-fascists in America disappeared as we moved closer to war. There were few examples of espionage or terrorism by American fascists because they had no loyalty to Hitler or Mussolini but an interest in a fascist America. Similarly there were few examples of Americans of German or Italian extraction who sided with America's enemies.
So while there were probably more American fascists than American communists in the 30s, the fascists were not out to destroy America while many of the communists actively worked to help Moscow destroy America into the 40s and 50s. Also the American fascists were a decidedly blue collar group while the Americas who sold us out to the Soviets often represented the intellectual and artistic elites.

He not only likely doesn't know what the Molotov-Ribbentropp Pact was, he probably wouldn't want to know as it would interfere with his spoonfed preconceptions. I am in full agreement with Geert Wilders. Muslims are migrating into Europe and America with an agenda i.e to Islamise west by what ever way. The violent way is most on priority. Europe and America must stop Muslims immigration. All Muslims must be sent back to their native countries or to their native countries of their ancestors.

Interesting observation from one of the top five posters in Pith. Gast of course is far and away numero uno. I'm also fairly certain that the guy posting as Truth is actually Gast as well. Same modus operendi. And like Gast, you say a lot of things, call them facts, and then insult anyone who asks you to back it up. Just because you believe it doesn't make it so. Last week was a perfect example when you cut and pasted something you read on a blog which was patently absurd. Did that keep you from fact-checking it. Of course not.
And Mark, not to quibble with you because you are actually one of the few sane conservatives in this blog. Liberalism is truly a mental disease. You see someone killing your neighbor and all you can say is, "They must have a good reason to do that" or "They really didn't mean to do it".
Islamists all over the world have told the West they intend on destroying it. Then Islamists do just that. The World Trade Center - twice, the Pentagon, Mumbai massacre, Spanish train bombing, London Underground bombing.
Muslims have realized that they can also destroy the West with bodies - millions of them. The stupid West insists on paying for someone elses children. So Muslims have them - lots of them - 5 times more than the rest of the West. They grow in numbers, while the West ages and decreases in numbers. These are facts; not hysteria, not paranoia.
Mohammed told Muslims to lie to non-Muslims to get their way, and lie they do. Until a truly reformed Islam exists, all Muslims are suspect. If moderate Muslims resent being tarred with the same brush, they need to stand up, band together, and show the West how they are actively fighting the Islamists.
Geert Wilders is as right about Islam being a huge threat to our freedoms as Winston Churchill was about Nazism, and remember how long it took for his view to prevail. Sure. And it pisses me off when Christians do the same thing, and use the Bible to justify it. But the Bible is not the law of this land, Sharia law is not the law of this land, and neither will be, unless and until we revoke the Constitution.

What should concern you is the rank ignorance these people display, partially as a result of political correctness and in larger part due to piss poor educations and the inability to think critically. Now, let's apply Occam's razor. I think that the anti-gay, anti-woman parts of fundamentalist Islam are incredibly offensive, just as they're offensive in fundamentalist Christianity and certain sects of Hasidic Judaism. What I find more offensive, however, is the legislature thinking it can limit anyone's constitutionally guaranteed right to believe any damn fool thing they want. As long as they're not actually stoning adulterers or teaching fairy tales as fact in public school science class or whatever, which in the United States, outside of a few crazy fringe elements, they are not.
CM, you make valid points. Unfortunately, you are wrong in a sense although much of this has not been widely reported. Certain EU nations, the UK included (and Canada), have started to permit Sharia to some extent. Here in the United States, a few courts have included Sharia in decisions, which are bound to be overturned. Eventually, though, these sort of separation of mosque/church and state issues--if they go unchallenged--end up accepted by default. Now you apply the razor, if it is even necessary. A few fringe courts have started to recognize Sharia. Is it more likely than not that this is or soon will be a problem, given what has happened in Canada and Western Europe? We do have the First Amendment here but it has been under constant assault.
The civil Sharia courts in Britain are unfortunate, I agree. But they, too, have no bearing upon the United States. I can't find a single case of a Western court upholding the types of things (honor killing and the like) that you've cited. One case, in which a mother who got off with probation after killing her daughter, is set for retrial. If I looked around, I'm sure I could find way more cases of US judges sentencing juveniles to community service in a church or appealing to overtly Christian religious law than the few isolated cases of judges telling people, who were in court over a dispute about how to handle their mosque's finances to settle their civil disputes via "Islamic Ecclesiastical Law." Why is it when we hear about the former, we say it's the fault of a shitty judge, but when it's the latter, it's a vast conspiracy?
