The 2011 Tennessee Women's Health Report Card was released Tuesday. You will be unsurprised to learn that we're in terrible shape. African American women get an F for infant mortality (women overall get a C). We got an F over all in smoking while pregnant, with 21.4 percent of white pregnant women sucking away on those cancer sticks. We got an F in chlamydia, an F in syphilis, a D in breast cancer, a D in cervical cancer, an F in heart disease, an F in stroke deaths, an F in drinking, an F in high cholesterol, and an F in unemployment.
About the only bright spot is that we have an A in not killing ourselves, even though the news about our health is severely depressing.
Anyway, Rachel over at Women's Health News has a good run-down of the release and what was discussed at the release event. Head over there for more info.
