Comedians are the ultimate multi-hyphenates of the entertainment world. It’s not enough just to do stand-up: You have to write, act, perform voice-over work … whatever gets you paid, amirite? Jen Kirkman has diligently put effort into all of the above.
In addition to essay-publishing, stand-up performances, website-founding (the now defunct girlcomic.net), sitcom-writing (the recently cancelled Perfect Couples), and staff writing and appearances on Chelsea Lately, Kirkman is perhaps best known, at least amongst functioning alcoholics, for her two appearances in the Funny or Die web series Drunk History, which also aired on HBO. Charmingly slurring her way through true stories of America’s racist history, her tipsy tales were acted out by actors like Danny McBride, Will Ferrell and Don Cheadle. And have I mentioned that she maintains a hilarious Twitter account?
