General audiences won't get their first look at director John Cameron Mitchell's highly touted comedy-drama Rabbit Hole until Jan. 14, when it opens at The Belcourt. But its star and producer, Nicole Kidman — who's already a Golden Globe, Independent Spirit and Screen Actors Guild nominee for Best Actress and has a groundswell of Oscar support behind her — will appear at a surprise screening 3 p.m. this Saturday at the Hillsboro Village arthouse. She'll also participate in a post-film Q&A moderated by WSMV anchor and filmmaker Demetria Kalodimos.
Tickets go on sale to Belcourt members 10 a.m. tomorrow. Belcourt staffers say it's doubtful any tickets will remain, but if so, they'll be available to the public Thursday morning. Tickets are $7.25 for the public, $5.75 for Belcourt members. Press release after the jump.

ABOUT RABBIT HOLE: Director John Cameron Mitchell (HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, SHORTBUS) has given us sweet, genre-breaking, euphorically naughty films with a bright, all-encompassing worldview, and RABBIT HOLE marks a significant progression: a pitch-perfect drama about mourning with exacting performances all around. Aaron Eckhart and Nicole Kidman, who doubles as the film’s Producer, play a couple trying to mourn the death of their young son, but unsure how to do it. Becca (Kidman) spats with family members as Howie (Eckhart) makes genuine efforts to connect. As she starts to reach out to the boy who killed her son, a teenaged driver whose life was irrevocably changed by the incident, their relationship, full of curiosity, suppressed rage and a surprising mutual recognition, forms the fascinating counterpoint to the discordant notes of a marriage in crisis. Nicole,
I'm sorry, but I already made plans to go to Ohio to see my family. You know I would be there otherwise. I hope you understand.
