In today's lightning-quick Internet media environment, stories ignite in an instant, burn with a magnesium fury, and leave faint piles of ashes that barely register in our collective memory. Remember the wild and wacky world of Basil Marceaux? Seems like eons ago, yet it was just five months ago when his cyberspace supernova was at its peak.

So to refresh your memory, and to help you reflect on the year that just expired, we've compiled the 10 most viewed Pith stories from 2010. (Interestingly, "most viewed" and "most commented" don't always coincide — in fact, one of the most viewed stories generated only one comment.)
