As the Titans season fumbled to its predictable close late yesterday afternoon, our thoughts moved from "What went wrong?" to "Where do we go from here?"
The big question, of course, is how the ongoing Peyton Place story arc of the relationship between quarterback and coach will resolve. Reportedly, top Titans brass are meeting with Bud Adams in Houston today to discuss the future of our Mightily Mustachioed Head Man.
Our buddies down at 1100 never back down from the tough debates, tweeting out a link to a sweet video feature asking a crucial question:
We can forgive the error, since it's not like anybody's been talking about this little storyline for the last two months.
But maybe it wasn't an error. Maybe they've got something here.
There are, of course, pros and cons to bringing in Steve Young. For one, he's 49 years old. Older even than Kerry Collins. Also, he has a nasty history of concussions.
But he had a live arm and was a known leader. Won some Super Bowls too. And he has a law degree.
Also, he could further immortalize the #8 Titans jersey — previously worn by certain future Hall of Famers like Matt Mauck and Aaron Elling.
And his "Seven Bridges Road" went on to become one of the least awful Eagles songs. (OK, that's another Steve Young. But maybe he's got untapped QB potential.)
To The Tennessean's credit, they removed the offending tweet and replaced it, and the faceless person behind the account tweeted an apology, proving they don't always stand by their goofs even when they're wrong.
