Don't Ask Don't Tell Passes House Vote Again; Republicans and a Few Tenn. Dems on Wrong Side of History

A Great Prick of the Civil Rights Era
  • A great prick of the Civil Rights Era
A bill that would repeal Don't Ask Don't Tell — a Clinton-era policy that prevents gays from openly serving in the military — once again passed with a vote in the U.S. House of Representatives and is now on its way to the Senate. Naturally, it goes on with very little help from Republicans, who history will recall with the same disgust it reserves for the man pictured to the right: George Wallace, noted piece-of-shit, Alabama governor, virulent segregationist, racist, fascist (sorry, but so many "ists" apply to this guy) and University of Alabama door-blocker.

Everyone knows that Sen. John McCain has flip-flopped and thrown up a bunch of artificial "benchmarks" for passage, like studies (which have been done) and approval from the top brass (which they've gotten), both of which he has subsequently ignored. But Pith thinks it useful to shine a light on the less visible but obstructive House Republicans and Democrats from Tennessee, just so they know we know they're anachronistic bigots fighting the tides of history and public sentiment, both civilian and military.

Rep. Marsha Blackburn of the 7th (R) — Voted against repeal. Big surprise there.
Rep. Lincoln Davis of the 4th (D) — Voted against repeal. This one doesn't make a lot of sense. I know the 4th is pretty conservative, but he's a lame duck and stood to lose nothing by doing the right thing.
Rep. Zach Wamp of the 3rd (R) — Couldn't be bothered to vote, apparently.
Rep. Bart Gordon of the 6th (D) — Voted for repeal. Attaboy.
Rep. Jim Cooper of the 5th (D) — Voted for repeal, of course.
Rep. John Tanner of the 8th (D) — Voted against repeal.

That isn't all of them — there are other "duh" votes, either because they're Republicans from conservative rural districts, or, as with Cohen, a Dem from the city.

The author of this story is obviously a moron who has no clue about the military. Those of us who are in the military know the truth. We are subject to drug tests all the time and we have to have an observer who physically watches us piss in a cup. Do you think that we should be subjected to having a gay guy watch you piss in that cup? Civilians who are subject to urinalysis dont have to have someone watch you do this. We all know that gays are already serving in the military now. All they have to do is keep their sexual orientation to themselves and they have no problem but this is not good enough for some because they want to be flamboyant and flaunt their gay lifestyle. I would love to have big mustache and goatee however military regulations prevent this. For 26 years of being in the military I have complained about different things and all I have heard from superiors is that if I dont like the rules then I should get out of the military. If gays cant conform to the military they should stay out.

Do you think they want pink camouflage and disco parties in the mess hall?

"I would love to have big mustache and goatee." Sounds a little swishy to me, but then again you know what they say about homophobes...

All though, now that I think about it, it sounds like we've got a closest Leninist on our hands...

Watching Dudes piss into a cup is a huge turn on. They may make thier move right then and there. Unlike us straights, they have absolutely no restraint. You cant leave that up to chance. Everytime I have a female nurse sees my junk I make sure Im ready to kung fu chop the girl who makes a move on me. Mustachioed gotees forever!

Let's give Governor Wallace credit for repenting of his demagoguery during his later years. Before he got shot, however, he was despicable.

"Watching Dudes piss into a cup is a huge turn on."

Yeah, must be Mammoth. Carried a sweetie over the bridge into E. Nash once upon a time. He spied a wino urinating on a warehouse over there and trilled: "Oooohh, look at him piss. I'd like to suck his dick." Put his swishy ass out of the car.

Mustachioed gotees forever! Yes indeedy.

Well, it's one way to get more liberals into the military. Yeah, yeah, I know about the Log Cabiner's burning desire to sign those enlistment papers. Right now the only way to get a Liberal into the military is through enlistment by minorities or a free education, or the draft, and we don't have the draft.

Honesty? You're worried about a 'gay guy' watching you piss in a cup? Brother, I did 6 and a half years in the U.S. Army, including a year and a half learning to read, write and speak Arabic. I was in language school with some notable patriots who were kicked out for being gay (including another Arabic speaker named Bleu Copas). Then I spent 5 years in the 10th Mountain Division, including a couple of tours in Iraq kicking doors and falling out of Blackhawks. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess you didn't master Arabic. No matter. After insurgents shoot at you and try to blow you up a few times, you'd sell your left nut for another Arabic speaker and a little more good intell, much less care who's assigned the task of looking at that nut during a routine piss test. By the way, I'm a liberal. After 9/11 I quit my job teaching college to join the Army; so, as a matter of fact, college money, letting in homosexuals and the draft aren't. The only ways liberals find their way into the Army. In fact, there are more Democrat OIF and OEF Veterans in Congress right now than Republican. Heck, this isn't why I got online, but the degree of y'alls enlightenment has drawn me into comment.
