The Antioch Protest Chicken Speaks: A Pith Exclusive

Posted by on Mon, Nov 22, 2010 at 1:30 PM

The subject of this week's City Paper Weekly Obsession — the Antioch Protest Chicken — is a hard bird to nail down. But Mayor Karl Dean's least favorite fowl finally found the time to answer some questions I posed at the end of the piece.

From the inbox:

1. Who are you? This beak is sealed. I am a chicken of course.
2. Why a chicken? Because turkeys are on the menu this time of year. Doubt the mayor would pardon me anyway.
3. Which came first? The fairgrounds came first. Long before Dean and before Hickory Hollow Mall became a bust.
