Sex, Violence and Filth Forever! American Grindhouse Closes Doctober at The Belcourt

Posted By on Tue, Oct 26, 2010 at 9:34 AM

The Belcourt's month-long "Doctober" fest of documentaries is drawing to a close. While the remarkable Nazi artifact A Film Unfinished has proved surprisingly popular (it's holding over for a second week), the series' official last film offers a sackful of strychnine-laced candy just in time for Halloween: American Grindhouse, Elijah Drenner's loving survey of a century of American exploitation movies.

If, like us, you misspent much of your adolescence at the local drive-in — a moment of silence, please — you'll be tickled to relive fond memories of The Swinging Cheerleaders, the Isaac Hayes classic Truck Turner and other low-down gems. It plays tonight and tomorrow night only; see The Belcourt's website for show times.
