The governor's race is a real yawner, so where should political junkies go for their fix this fall? That's easy. All the action will happen in the wilds of West Tennessee where the skillet-lickin', pickup truck-lovin' Roy Herron will slug it out with Stephen Fincher, the gospel singing farmer from the celebrated town of Frog Jump. Plow Congress!
In today's Knoxville News Sentinel, David Wasserman of the Cook Political Report says the match-up between Herron and Fincher will be Tennessee's best race in November. Fincher should have the upper hand, he says, because it looks like a big Republican year, "but Fincher is also new to this game. Democrats will portray him as unworthy of high office."
Also, "Roy Herron is a polished preacher and politician who would outmatch Steve Fincher in any policy debate, simply because of his experience," Wasserman says.
