Paranoid Wamp Sees the Hand of Haslam Everywhere

Is the last screw coming loose for Zach Wamp? In the final frantic hours before Election Day, it seems his paranoia is getting the best of him. In Memphis, he conjured up some kind of conspiracy theory in which the all-powerful Haslam family somehow managed to plant that anti-Wamp editorial in the Wall Street Journal. From Jackson Baker, here's a sample of Wamp's ravings:

“The Haslams are nice people if they get their way. That’s the way it is with the very rich and very powerful in America,” he said, adding that the reality was, “They’re ruthless.”

“Somehow they’re so rich and powerful that they’ve got people working for them in New York City,” said Wamp, who declared, “ We shouldn’t let New York operatives determine who the governor of Tennessee’s going to be. I didn’t invent Oak Ridge, Tennessee, or the Chickamauaga Lock. I inherited them. I’ve had to do certain things for our state. To claim that I’m a big earmarker just flies in the face of the truth. I’ve been a leader in earmark reform."

“When has the Wall Street Journal ever involved themselves in a primary in one of 50 states? When has that ever happened?” Wamp demanded. “That just speaks to the reach of a family that has a $37 billion empire. They’re connected to all kinds of publications and all kinds of people.”

Just in case his meaning was unclear, Wamp was asked: Was he suggesting that the Haslams directly planted the Wall Street Journal editorial?

“I’m suggesting there’s something fishy about the whole thing, yeah,” he said.

Wamp isn't so sure the Haslams didn't influence the Hotline story in which he talked about states seceding from the union.

The “secessionist” interpretation of his statement may also have been the work of the Haslams, Wamp implied. “Again, their reach is so extensive with their $37 billion empire, they’re able to make things look like they’re not.”

Wamp as a suspicious looking Middle Easterner in the Haslam mailer.

As you might imagine, given his current state of mind, Wamp is compiling a long list of grievances. He's also accusing Haslam of doctoring his picture in a mailer to make the congressman look Middle Eastern.

"They painted up my face, created a beard, used all this Middle Eastern looking imagery, and it's awful," he said in an interview with The Associated Press. "What kind of gutter politics is that?"

In fact, the Haslams are writing this Pith post even now, moving my fingers across the keyboard, forcing me to say Zach Wamp is psycho. I am hypnotized.

After Thursday's election, no more Wamp, Ramsey, or Marceux. Admit it. You will miss the crazy. Where else can you find hillbillies, Washington wannabes, and the brain injured colliding like bumper cars in a poorly maintained carnival ride? Yeah, Mississippi and South Carolina give it a run for the money, but how many of their candidates make the national comedy shows, newspapers, and internet media? Fun times in Tennessee. Bring your guns (anywhere and everywhere).

so what....so ur telling me that after thursday all the truth telling will be done...now you just need to "follow what we tell you"...you and anyone else who votes for Haslam is naive....you honestly think that a Billionaire gives a s#it about you? People have called the truth tellers ALL CRAZY......
look at the picture of Wamp and ask yourself..."have you ever seen him look like that" if the answer is no then then ask yourself why? if the answer is yes then vote Haslam..an you;; get what you deserve...
I dont get all you people making fun of the fringe candidates.....if you study history you will plainly see that they are the ones who shed the light...the mainsteam candidates just want you to go along...vote for the guy cause he is nice....same staory...heres my millions for your tv station ...just go along...heres my millions for your newspaper...just go along....you calling somebody brain injured is the kettle calling someone black...YOU ARE ONE who just doesnt get it...but you will soon.

Haha omg "middle eastern imagery" - you've got to be kidding me. Even if you were to follow wamp down his crazy trail, all I can say is that he brought it on himself with all of his Christianist dominionist rantings. He really would be at home in a "middle eastern" theocracy.

Ive seen Wamp a hundred times and he never looked like this. It definitely been seriously photoshopped.
And for the record I subscribe to WSJ and they have NEVER picked a candidate in the repub primary.....not since Ive been reading in the last 10 years.

call me crazy but the Haslam campaign must be seeing polls they dont like. Looks like the state may be in for a surprise this weekend.

No doubt the photo has been doctored; I'm not arguing that. I'm saying that Wamp invoking "middle eastern" as some kind of bogeyman is desperate and ignorant. Personally, I think it's been doctored to make him look like an unkempt rube. That should offend the bulk of his mouth-breathing, knuckle-dragging base.

its looks pretty middle eastern to me....the bright light shining implies that he is having the light shone on him...which is a favorite line of the Koran Medinan chapters....shine the light yayayaya...the beard and mustache is very middle eastern symbolic....seen as signs of a true follower..."let not the body go unadorned from Meccan chapters...whoever did this was definitley trying to establish something eveil here.

I have a Masters in Poli Sci and Ive studied religions and politics from all over the world and consider myself somewhat of an expert on them. SO this is not the first time Ive seen this. Time did it to OJ and it was used on Condi Rice over and over.

I havent decided who to vote for but the use of this picture is not just childs play or somebody trying to make someone look "bad". this is a calculated move designed to make somebody look evil. Ill stake my reputation on it. if anyone wants to discuss email me at sstz013 at yahoo dot com

I can only surmise from your post that you equate "middle eastern" with "evil."

Wow. Nice job there. Did you get your masters at Liberty University?

Someone who claims to know anything about political science would not be surprised that the opposition would use a bad picture. To claim to know the motives behind selecting a given photograph, means you were involved in the selection of were told by someone who was. Whatley sounds a lot like Wamp at his most paranoid.

Zach Wimp is a loser and knows it. Wimp knows he don't have a record to run on so he tells tall tales about Haslam. Now Puss in boots Ramsey isn't smart enough to realize that he himself is a loser. Both Wimp and Puss in boots drink their own bathwater.

You know? If I had someone following me around all day taking pictures and shooting video, I would be a little paraonoid too. Just ask Haslam about his employee Neal!
