In this video from the Christian Right's Family Action Council, we learn some of Bill Haslam's most trusted advisers are five guys he meets with every Friday morning.
"They know almost everything about me. They know why I ran. They understand the difference between a politically right answer and the right answer. And because we’ve had so many of those conversations over the years, those are the guys who say, 'Now Bill, tell me again why you should do that?' And I know they do that out of total love and concern for me, but I also know they’re not going to back away at all from calling on me to do the right thing."
After watching Haslam give this answer, it occurred to the award-winning Pith: Who are these guys who will hold so much influence over the candidate who's most likely to become our next governor? So we asked the Haslam campaign.
"Bible study" was the two-word response in an email from campaign flack David Smith, who subsequently declined to name any members of the group. We guess it'll remain Haslam's little secret.

I don't want a "chummy uncle" as the City Paper called Haslam today...I think Tennessee needs a governor with vision and the passion to actually get things done.
Nash201 -- Unfortunately, Bredesen is term-limited. Good luck finding anyone in this crowd on either side that fits that description.
Haslam should be praying. He has told a lot of stories in this campaign.

In addition to hiring good people, Bill Haslam makes an honest effort to surround himself with wise individuals that will help him see things clearly and be an even more efficient leader. Maybe we don't need to know who these guys are, but seeing as how they have been meeting for over 20 years they must be doing something right.
Rest assured The 5 Guys don't include Ron Ramsey or Zach Wamp.
